Lip Filler FAQs: Everything You Need to Know About the Bella Bar Experience

Dec 12, 2024

At Bella Bar Medspa in Brownsville, Texas, we prioritize patient comfort, safety, and exceptional results when it comes to lip fillers. Here, we answer the most frequently asked questions about lip fillers and share insights into our unique techniques to help you feel confident about your treatment.

Are Lip Filler Injections Painful?

At Bella Bar, our lip filler treatments are virtually pain-free! While many medspas rely on numbing cream, which often makes the procedure uncomfortable, I perform a dental block using lidocaine injections to fully numb the area. This ensures a much more comfortable experience for my patients.

Are Lip Filler Bumps Normal?

Yes, lumps and bumps can be normal for up to three weeks after lip filler injections. These are usually caused by minor swelling or the filler settling into place. However, I do not recommend massaging your lips during this time, as the filler will dissolve or smooth out on its own. If you’re concerned, we can discuss your progress during a follow-up appointment.

Can Lip Filler Be Removed?

Yes, lip filler can be dissolved if necessary. At Bella Bar, we exclusively use USA-manufactured hyaluronic acid-based fillers, which can be removed with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down the filler safely. However, I encourage patients to give their new look at least a month to settle before considering any dissolving. In fact, I’ve never had to dissolve lips due to dissatisfaction with my work—our consultations and technique ensure results you’ll love.

What Lip Filler Is Best?

There is no one-size-fits-all filler. I tailor every treatment to your unique needs, whether you’re looking to enhance lip height, add volume, or achieve an overall plump. I assess your anatomy and desired outcome to select the best product for you, ensuring natural, balanced results.

Which Lip Filler Lasts the Longest?

Longevity depends on your individual metabolism and how many times you’ve had filler in the past. For first-time lip filler patients, I recommend a retouch at six months to build and maintain your look. After that, you can often maintain your results with treatments just once a year.

Will Lip Filler Help Dry Lips?

Initially, your lips may feel drier due to the skin stretching and adjusting to the filler. Once healed, they often appear smoother and less wrinkled, which reduces the appearance of dryness. Keep in mind that overall hydration levels also play a role in lip moisture. While filler can add volume and smooth lines, drinking plenty of water is key to maintaining hydrated, healthy-looking lips.

Will Lip Filler Mustache Go Away?

A “lip filler mustache” typically refers to migrated filler above the vermillion border (the natural line where your lips meet your skin). If migration occurs, it can be corrected by dissolving the filler with hyaluronidase. Proper injection technique and careful product selection help prevent this issue, which is why it’s critical to work with an experienced injector.
